Supporting children and families
before, during, and after adoption and foster care.
The Need
Adoption and foster care are notoriously difficult for children and families alike. Children who have experienced the pain of neglect or abuse and the loss of their initial caregivers tend to arrive in a new family carrying that pain. As time goes by, a healing process must unfold. Even with healing, these children often present behaviors that require significant resources from their new foster or adoptive parents. Parents assume these responsibilities via their commitment to the child or children and need equipping and resourcing both before and after placement.
We believe families deserve more.
Our vision is not that families who foster and adopt will have to do with less, but that they will have more than enough resources to meet their children’s unique needs.
Our Services
Encouragement
We love to walk alongside families, pointing them to resources, key relationships, counseling, and honest conversation about the difficulties and blessings of the journey.
Family Grants
Families who have adopted or are actively fostering can receive funds in the form of grants expenses like therapies, house projects, general household costs, and legal fees.
Student Scholarships
Children and young adults from foster and adoptive families can apply to receive educational scholarships.
Limited Reach
As a new ministry, AFCC desires to remain small in the near term in order to offer a high level of service to selected families and to keep administrative costs down. Consequently, our services are limited to a small group of recipients at this time.
Funding Sources
AFCC is funded through the generosity of community members including individual donations, corporate gifts, foundation grants, and donor advised funds.
Donations commonly come through giving campaigns initiated by selected grant recipients who invite their community to support AFCC. Donations are tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. All contributions are made with the understanding that AFCC has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds.
AFCC utilizes 4% of each donation to cover administrative expenses.
